Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)
Certified Nursing Assistants work under the direction of licensed nurses, usually in nursing homes and home health agencies. Their duties include providing basic care. Nursing assistants observe the patient's physical, emotional and mental status and report changes to the nursing staff. Nursing assistants who are employed in extended care facilities are often the principal caregivers. They often have more contact with residents than other members of the staff. Since some residents may occupy an extended care facility for months or years, nurse assistants often develop long-lasting, professional relationships with the residents and respond to them in a positive and caring manner.
Graduates are eligible to take the Indiana State Department of Health exam to become a certified nursing assistant.
- The maximum number of students is 10 per class.
